Balisong – Butterfly Knife

While visiting the Philippines in 2025, we went to the Balisong District. Literally all up and down the street there are stores where the butterfly knife is sold. It is said that the district will eventually be no longer as the children of the knife makers are seeing no future in knife making. They are all getting jobs in IT or as social media influencers. The picture above is from Liza Balisong.

I had a butterfly knife when I was a kid and loved flipping it open and closed. That muscle memory has remained. Below are some videos I found on YouTube on how to open and close the knife.
