Jaime’s Birthday Weekend!

We had a busy weekend with some cleaning, but we also went to the Foam Glow, Wax-a-Bear, Shopping, and Family Dinner.

Foam Glow was fun, it was a 5K that our friend Mariah asked us to join because her friend Melissa asked her to join. We did walk it.

Afterwards, we went to dinner and then to Wax-a-Bear, but didn’t take any photos. But had a great time with some of our 105th family. It was definitely interesting.

The next day, we lost our heads shopping for deals…

We ended the day with dinner with the family :)

Weekend in Lost Vegas

For our birthdays this year, we did a joint event in Vegas. We had an open invite for our friends to join but not everyone was able to make it; but Sue and Dave did join us!! We did some Vegas strip walking, enjoyed our favorite ‘piano bar’ which is more just live music entertainers, and did the Neon Museum and Brilliance light show, super cool! We finished our trip with a visit to some family and had lunch before we headed on home.

CISM

Since the last exam, I figured, I got things going for me. So I signed up for the exam, crammed for it, and took the test. The exam was quite tough, I think it’s because I didn’t study as much as I should have, so there was more thinking for each question. Either way, I passed on my first try, so that’s pretty good!

Live Band Karaoke at Kazimierz

After a busy weekend of chores, we went out on a Sunday to hang out with Eric and Judy at Karaoke. Pretty cool concept to have a live band back you as you do Karaoke. Very fun!

Tucson Comic-Con

Jaime is part of a group that got together and did some creative work on replicating an artist’s interpretation of the Avengers, which I think is being called the #FancyAvengers 

There was so much work that was needed to get it going and even the night before, Allysen and Jaime were working into the early morning hours running their sewing machines and talking each other out of quitting… Even before we left on Friday, we took the extra time for Jaime to work on her dress and didn’t get to Tucson until the night.

Saturday, we took a good part of the day to try and enjoy the hotel’s breakfast and then wander over with Mariah to the convention center to meet up with everybody and take in what Tucson Comic-Con had to offer. Here are some photos from Saturday

After dinner, Jaime and I walked back to our hotel, and the sewing began. Shortly afterwards, Allysen came over with all her stuff and eventually they came to their finished products. Hours later, after some sleep, the #FancyAvengers assembled, slowly, and eventually later in the afternoon, we finally got with the photographer. Here are some photos that we were able to get that aren’t the official ones.

Overall, the event was enjoyable and fun. It’s definitely one for the list for Cosplayers, Nerds, and Geeks to go to.

Half Marathon Training!

For the last 17 weeks, I’ve been doing this Half Marathon training plan with a ‘virtual coach’ named Jeff Galloway.

Today was the last day! I can run a half marathon!!! I actually had to run three of them during this training session. I think the first one was only supposed to be 10, but I thought, what’s a couple more miles? The one after that was 12, but with warm-up and cool-down, it’s 14 miles, then a super long 15 miler.

This morning, I left before the sun came up, check this out!

But it wasn’t long before the sun came up. I love this part of the route. It looks ‘so Arizona’
. It’s very picturesque.

My method… Jeff Galloway’s method for running is to take scheduled walk breaks. Quite literally, I run for 30 seconds and then I walk for 30 seconds. I know some people will think that isn’t real running… I know I don’t care what they think. HA! It’s my life and I run by my pace with my permission to be as slow as I want to be. My Instagram is just littered with a ton of training, so if you want to cheer me on…

Well, I made it. I’m going to take a little bit of a break, then start all over again in about a week. Now it’s time for vacation!
