I did more work on my NIST assessment, took a good chunk of the morning, I also had quite a few meetings today. Doing some work with South Carolina. They have some needs that are very similar with California’s. That helped me understand where some things are and who holds what artifacts. Good to know. I need to build a central storage for them all.

I was part of a team meeting today and I got to meet the CRO. Seems nice and that he gets it. I asked about funding and got a response I was looking for.

I got to spend most of the day working on what I wanted to, my presentation. I did spend a little bit of the day on a risk assessment as well. I attended a really good meeting on increasing engagement and taking care of some employees that are displaced.

There was a work happy hour for someone going away. There was also a happy hour with my past coworkers. It was good to catch up!

I did a lot of focus work on a NIST thing today, the work I’m doing will set us up for success down the road with our capabilities to respond to audits and bring on new clients. I have some good plans to increase our maturity, and speaking of which, I spent the afternoon focusing on illustrating that plan.

I had to really get passionate today about keeping the company secure and it bothered me the lack of desire to do the right thing. But I am very glad that my team saw it my way and I could feel they were supporting me. So that is something great.

My big thing today was I gave a presentation on what I did for my last company and they want me to do it for this company.

I’m really excited about this!

Another Monday and I can’t make “not another Monday” jokes as I have been looking forward to starting my day. And I did have a good day. I only had a handful of meetings today and they were all pretty good. My first meeting wasn’t all that exciting and was a little confusing. I participated in the lunch time meeting and we had a meeting at the end of the day that was resolved in 4 minutes but we ended up talking about things for an hour. That was nice.

I got a cord cover and some cabling accessories so I could clean my desk up a bit. It’s looking not too shabby. Over the weekend I got a new webcam because my set up can only handle three monitors at a time. So I keep my laptop closed.

It looks pretty rad

A full week is complete today. There was quite a few meetings that I was part of. I’m excited for the changes that my boss wants to implement. I feel it’s a good time to be onboard and it might have been better to have been on board probably a month sooner. That’s okay though.

I was in a really great meeting discussing lowering operating costs and I think it was great exposure to a topic I haven’t been part of before at this level.

I had some meetings on HIPAA, on SOX, and Vulnerability Management. Good things are coming for sure and the excitement is awesome.

I got to re-arrange my home office a bit and found out how to use my other monitor. The bad thing is that I can only use 3 monitors at a time. So I’m trying to figure that part out. I can technically not use my laptop screen but I need the camera of it for my video conferences.

I started this morning with no meetings on my calendar and ended up sending out a message to the team asking if I could join them. I right away got 5 meetings on my calendar. It was a decent day.

We had a team meeting on GRC and went through what people are working on and I took some notes on people’s pain points. Some ideas for later.

I worked more on my powerpoint. I think I’m getting some good approach items in it.

I also chatted with some old friends today, Nat, Sona, and Ron.

I think today was a good day.
