March 11th: Arizona Aloha Festival
I was inspired to play the Ukulele in 2014, while Jaime and I were in Oahu and decided to just hit up the Ukulele festival down the road from the hotel. I was like fuck it, sure, why not? I dug some of that Hawaii music, it was okay at best. Then this one guy gets announced, and whoever he is, talked about how he didn’t sing and liked fingerstyle ukulele. He then did some fucking amazing music! Come to find out, it was Jake Shimabukuro. I didn’t even get to see him, but I sat in the grass and listened to him and was just… Just awed at what he could do on four strings.
I got an ukulele, and then started learning. I learned and learned and played a lot. Well, tonight, and 15 ukuleles later, I got to see Jake!

We went to the Scottish Highland Games in downtown Phoenix and had a blast drinking dark beers, shopped for kilts and accessories, and ate haggis.

It has been many years since I lived in Millington Tennessee, I was stationed at the Naval Air Station there for Ordnance school in 1992. A fresh 18 year old, just gaining independence and I probably could have used a lot more guidance. I rarely got to travel to other parts of Tennessee (financially and mentally, I could have used more guidance!), so I’m excited about it.
I’m going to Nashville for the ISACA GRC Conference and luckily, at the same week, there is the RSA Archer Summit. They are only a couple of blocks away from each other and I have a good feeling that Nashville is beautiful too.
I do enjoy going to conferences and being exposed to new takes on using similar solutions, the “cool” hacking presentation that someone will often do for the neato bit. Networking is nice too. I hope to get a lot of useful information from these. CPE points are nice too!
I had a conversation about this topic the other day, so I was pretty happy to stumble upon this video.
