Hanging with the Silbers in Vegas

My good friend, Natacha, whom I’ve known since High School, was bringing her husband to Vegas to celebrate his big birthday and they let us know that they’re coming to our side of the United States and for us to join them.

The first day we met up, and walked the strip for a bit, we stopped into several places to look around.

The next day started off with Mike winning some money! So we went shopping at Pawn Stars’ and the LV Outlet mall. Then continued where we left off down the strip.

We toured the Lost Spirits where I took very few pictures, so I borrowed these from the Silbers.

We then continued on the strip from where we left the day before, but slightly more intoxicated! LOL

The next morning over breakfast we had to laugh as we reviewed our pictures from the night before! Then we spent most of the day at the pool!

We went to Valley of Fire, it was quite awesome!!

And lastly, we did Luxor, Mandalay Bay (The Aquarium)

We ended the night with a great dinner at Beauty and Essex

In the morning, we had to bid the Silbers Farewell and go home, I miss them already!!

Last Lake Day for 2022

We originally planned to go to the lake on Sept. 19, for Talk like a Pirate Day, but there was some work to do, so we elected to go a day early. Because it was so close to Talk like a Pirate Day, I had to wear my pirate tricorn hat. The day was gorgeous and so relaxing!

We found a Llama Unicorn floatie, and ran into quite a few Donkeys on the road.

Tucson Comic Con 2022

We do enjoy Tucson’s Comic Con. It’s a bit smaller. Just something more enjoyable about it. We met up with some old friends and made some new ones. The first day, we did our X-Men of having Magneto and Colossus, which totally makes sense when you think about it. Our first time back since pre-COVID back in 2019.

Damien’s Birthday!

I can’t believe my son is now 26. I think that’s the real adult age. When you’re little, you think people who can drive are adults, when you are 16, you think being able to join the military or can ‘go to jail’ is an adult, when you’re 18, you think being able to legally drink is an adult, when you are no longer allowed to be a dependent and have to get your own health insurance, then you’re an adult!

We had a pool party and also had friends come over. Damien left for a date, so that’s pretty cool.

Black Hat and DefCon

For many years, I’ve wanted to go to Black Hat and to DefCon, but work, life, career, guided me to other places, like RSA conference, or nothing at all. About a year ago, I promised myself I’d make it to Black Hat and DefCon, even if I had to pay for it myself. I’m glad I didn’t, but I would have. Such a great opportunity to network with like professionals and to nerd out on hacking things. While I’m not much of a hacker anymore, I switched focus many years ago, I am still intrigued by it and enjoy watching, thinking, and discussing how to be non-conformist to the intended use of rules, technology, people, and process.

It was my first Black Hat and it was hosted at the Mandalay Bay, beautiful venue and very nice hotel. My hotel where I stayed at, the Linq… shit-hole! Definitely wasn’t a fan. Though while DefCon was around, I was right next to the venue and that was nice… but that was the only good quality about the place. That’s a story for a different time.

Black Hat & Def Con 2022

I have my first opportunity ever to attend Black Hat and DefCon in Las Vegas. I got to rub elbows with others and meet with my co-workers, and also reconnect with some of my peers. It was an experience I very much enjoyed and would like to repeat!

I’m on a Boat!

We have been looking forward to this since our last boat trip, and our friends have been looking forward to this for much longer! Since last year. We had a great day and we got to see Donkeys, Coyotes, Fish, Vultures, Ducks, and Mermaids!

We caught huge swells while leaving in the storm last night! Had to quickly get to Scorpion Bay, tie up, and wait it out for about an hour or so. It was still windy when we left, but so late, making it pretty hard to get the boat on the trailer. We made it home safe and had some taquitos! Yum!!
