Amazing Arizona Comic Con 2014

The Amazing Arizona Comic Con is not as big and amazing as the Phoenix Comic Con, It even uses the smaller convention center, but it is still a lot of fun.
Fewer people dress up for this one and fewer celebrities show up as well.

We still like going though. There are so many comics to see and so many talented artists.

CISSP

Took my test today and passed on the first try. No bootcamps or classes. How?
I read two books. TheĀ CISSP: Certified Information Systems Security Professional Study Guide, which was a very informative, yet dry. I took several months to read this book. Even longer to try to notate it and really digest the contents of it.

Then, two-three weeks before my test, I read the CISSP Exam Cram (3rd Edition) and then read it again, cramming two days before the test. This book has several small errors. Over the weeks, I tested with the chapter tests and the self tests that came with the books. Reading the book twice and highlighting key points helped a lot.

Once I got to the testing facility, while sitting in the parking lot, there is an exam cram sheet that comes with the exam cram book. Just go over it.

CISSP Results Letter

The test was a little difficult and very long. It took about 3 hours for the questions I was given (which I understand are randomly selected from a pool of official questions), once I completed, I took a break, then reviewed all my answers, re-reading every question, which only took two hours. The 6 hours given to take the test is more than enough to complete the test and review every question. If you are after the coveted CISSP, this technique worked for me.

Worst Passwords of 2013

incorrect password

According to this article, password is no longer the #1 password that people are using, now its 123456.

worst-passwords-2013

Are people smarter when it comes to passwords? Well…. I think some are just lazy.
A good password should be at least 8 characters long, with UPPER and lower case, to include numbers and characters.
Authentication systems should store the password with a one-way hash, lock the account temporarily or fully after 5 tries, and send an alert to either a security team or a help desk team.

Merry Christmas – 2013 Edition

We had so many Christmas presents to give this year and with plans of having Courtney’s parents renting a house in Gilbert, we started our holiday by packing up the car a day early and making a special trip to Pat and Courtney’s place so that we could comfortably drive two vehicles the next day.

We stayed awhile Friday night, just talking and stuff, and the following day, I picked up Uncle Dave and Auntie Nervie from the airport as Jaime and Damien came later to deliver a handful of gifts, all our stuff for staying over, and the dogs. My mom made a special stop in San Francisco to visit her long time friends. I went to pick her up at midnight.

We went to church the next morning, then ate, and then moved the tree and decorations to the rental house. It took a little bit to set up the tree and it looked glorious! We love our tree and it was nice setting it up again.

It looks so nice decorated!

Later that night, Courtney’s parents, her brothers, and her sister, came over. We picked up some Famous Dave’s and ate a lot. We ate a lot every day, I’m just going to say that as we were stuffed most of the time. My cousin’s wife made a TON of delicious Filipino food. It was SOOO good!

We had such a great week and it was a very nice coming together of the families. We unfortunately didn’t have Jaime’s family there to enjoy the festivities because Brandee had to work, so after we dropped off everyone at the airport, we made special trips to visit them all.

Enjoy the pictures below! FOR THE UNCENSORED PICTURES THAT INCLUDE THE SURPRISE, CLICK HERE.

Baby Vic’s Birthday at the Phoenix Zoo

We were invited to my cousin’s grandson’s birthday at the Phoenix Zoo. It was nice seeing everybody, it is always nice to hang out with family. Jaime hasn’t been to the zoo since she was very little and it has been a handful of years since Damien has gone. I don’t think Pat or Courtney have gone or have gone in awhile either.
