Phoenix Fan Fusion 2025

My brother took a couple extra days to enjoy Phoenix Fan Fusion. I picked him up from the airport on Wednesday and we, Jaime and I, hung out with him and went to dinner with my son and his girlfriend down the street. It was a pretty cool reunion as I don’t think Pat has seen DJ or Sam since Orlando. After dinner, we swung by Brandee and Brent’s place to pretty much give everyone a tour of their house they bought about a year ago, and to get some eggs.

The next day, after an easy day of work, we finalized our packing and loaded up the truck. Off to Fan Fusion!! The first night was just meeting up with everyone who got there and is staying there. We met up with Mariah and Sunshine and some of her friends and ate dinner, Pat took off to hang out with his buddy, just for the night. We heard that Alex wouldn’t be coming in until 2AM. We let the hotel staff know so Alex could pick up a key and not disturb anyone.

Morning came soon enough and after breakfast, we started prepping for the day. Some people got ready and came over while some people went straight over to the con. We were going to do our Cinderella group cosplay today and unfortunately our Cinderella had an allergic reaction to the bathroom soap.

Regardless, we had a lot of fun and it felt like many people took photos of us. We ended up on the news, to those who still watch it, and our friend’s mom, Marcia, did watch and found us and sent us a photo.

Our chat group is called Nerds, Geeks, and Freaks, so its kind of funny to see the caption on the TV

I talked about how Mother discussed marrying her daughters, Anastasia and Drizella to Loki and Thor.

Sore feet, from about 15,000 steps and a fun filled day of fame and we retired, to have dinner with each other at the hotel restaurant.

After dinner, some came over to our room and we chatted into the night, until we couldn’t stay up any longer.

My brother and I did the GI Joe Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow last year, and for Christmas he got us matching tattoos! So we had to show them off. Not even 5 minutes after being at the con, we run into someone with the same dang tattoo! I should have gotten a picture of his face, I don’t remember what he looks like at all, but we are totally besties now!

First stop, we went to the Army spot and got a cool photo there, then did some other photo opportunities. We surprisingly got stopped often for photos and I handed out some ninja stars, made from paper.

We saw Eugene Cordero, who played PillBoi from The Good Place and played several roles in Loki. We decided to get some photos with him. He’s a cool dude and of course we made him do the Filipino point with us. He ended up being pretty funny.

After lunch we came back to the con with more comfortable shoes for me, my feet were tired and we left our “swords” at the hotel since they weren’t the most comfortable and just stopped us at the entrance unnecessarily.

To round up the night, we had the big dinner at the Thai restaurant around the corner.

As much as I really wanted to dress as Good Place’s Bad Janet and Jason Mendoza so that we can see Manny Jacinto, we already had a plan to wear the Mulan concubine outfits.

Justin came over early and did our make-up and then we ran off to see Eugene and Manny do their panel. We got a lot of attention. I was able to ask a question. Video below!

The shoes didn’t hurt that bad!

Here’s the panel with Eugene and Manny!

I had bought the photo op with Manny and Eugene and we really tried to see if anyone seeing Ming-Na Wen would allow us to be in their photo, and there was some mix up so we ended up in someone else’s photo with Manny and Eugene.

She was super cool and while talking to her, she got a text from the person in our group who played the Cat in Cinderella, Karla! I was like no way! We’re friends with Karla! and Karla sent us that picture above.

For our picture, we got Manny and Eugene to do the Filipino point!

I hope these guys are in more things! I didn’t care much about representation until these guys got major roles!

We got some more photos with a lot of people, just walking around.

We went to the Ming-Na Wen panel in hopes that she would notice us, we got there a little late so we only got seats on the side, it wasn’t looking good! But then! At the end, she spotted us and we took a selfie with her! And the crowd helped!

How freakin’ cool! And there’s a video!

It’s too bad all good things had to come to an end and after walking back to the hotel with sore feet, proud of all we’ve done, we made it back, changed, had dinner, and about the middle of the next day, we took Alex and Pat to the airport. Definitely a memorable trip!
